RDFZ, Chaoyang Branch School, held it's 4th Sports Day on the 30th of
September 2017. As most would expect, the Day entailed an assortment of
athletic activities, in which a vast number of students heartily took
part.
The Day officially commenced with the different Parades organized by the
four houses; Tai Hang, Kun Lun, Qi Lian, and Heng Duan. They involved
students marching in neat rows, in synchronization, the leader at the
front holding a flag displaying House Pride. The Parades were joyful as
it is, but some of the students of Tai Hang house even decided to show
their enthusiasm in the form of rap!
Then came the student relay races, which ended up becoming the core of
amusement for the students, as they ardently and passionately cheered
and cried out words of encouragement for the contestants.
The entire school came alive on that day, with zealous and enthusiastic
students scattered around the premise of the school court. Music could
be heard from all around, to which the attendees danced gleefully. On
top of that, the weather that day was unexpectedly pleasant, the Sun
shone bright and the sky was clear as crystal; the smog from the
previous day had completely dissipated. It seemed, there could not have
been a more perfect day.
Following that were the marathon races that ranged from 800 metres to
1000. A large number of students participated and worked very earnestly
in preparation for this task, however only 1 could emerge as the winner:
Luke from Kun Lun House. His words of advice, which he revealed upon
being interviewed, include practicing fervently daily, which he himself
implements, as he is used to running 100 metres every day. He also says
to continuously work hard and not to give up.
Lastly, the teachers participated in a 800 metres relay race, which several
teachers were a part of. Upon running a certain distance, the teacher
would hand over the baton to the next teacher so that they could carry
it to the next in line until they reached the last person. At the end of
that, mister Harkin's team emerged as the winners. Mr Harkin and his team all celebrated with cheers and hi fives. And with that the event came to a successful end.
