Interview with S2 student Louise

Last week, S1 students took their first Mid-term exam, the test results were quite satisfactory. Correct learning methods have to be passed on, only in this way can students enhance their fruition of study.

“I think I should focus more on the application of knowledge, not just on memorizing the textbook.” said Senior 2 student Louise, who possesses superb study habits and excellent time management. Louise is one of the school

prefects and she got 5 As and a couple of A stars in this Midterm Exam. She deems that she could have done better in maths, chemistry and physics. “I didn’t have enough time to finish every question meticulously. Had I answered the questions more carefully, my grade would have been higher.” If you would like to improve your study skills, you may start to master the correct study habits, make a more effective time management and make greater efforts from now on.

Midterm Exam Results

Mid-term exam is a constructive way to

demonstrate our academic ability and efforts we made. After Mid-term exam, we

gained a better understanding of how well we have mastered the knowledge, thus can we

locate and make up the deficiencies.

In our recent research, we found that there are 30% students who got low grades in our class because there are too much new knowledge to study these days. Also there are about 40% students who got low grades in some subjects because of their failed time

management low grades in Mid-term exam.

It is nevertheless true that there are about 20% students who got good grades in each subject. Those students always have an efficient study plan in advance and finish their homework on time. They seldom do something in hurry, because they have good time management. They may only study 2 to 3 hours everyday, however, they study much more efficiently than other students. Time is unique and everyone wants to make the most of his or

her time. Actually, the most important point is that time management is not necessarily about getting lots of things done, because much more important than that is making sure that you are working on the right things, the things that truly

need to be done and can possibly make a difference.

1. Write things down

2. Prioritize your list

3. Plan you week

4. Learning to say no

5. Continuously improve yourself

6. Think about what you are giving up to do

7. Identify bad habits

8. Keep a goal journal

9. Don’t be a perfectionist

10. Avoid “efficiency traps”

Natural Science

The results of the mid-term examination had come out, some of us got fantastic grades while some didn’t, especially for science subjects. It’s true that the some science subjects are tricky indeed, but we are intelligent enough to improve our marks with suitable methods.

First of all, no way is the best one that if it does fit you well. You need to consider the current circumstance of your learning. For most of the students, language is the biggest gap.

They haven’t been adapted to courses that taught in English, which make it hard for them to grip the main idea teachers talk about. If you are suffering from language problem, just speak it out. Your dear classmates and teachers would gladly help you with that. And you wouldn’t lose face at all for doing that, in contrast, it’s a reveal of courage.
