We believe learning not only happens from a textbook but also it happens from our classmates as well as our roommates, or a new friend. It happens when we study, work, talk, play, share, reflect, argue… Learning grows out of our successes and our failures….it happens when we learn directly about a new culture.
RDFZ ALC is very different from many other Traditional Chinese High Schools. In most schools students are in a Class with students from their own age and year and they stay with the same students every day and have their lessons together.
Here at the ALC things are very different, we have student Centered management system with four houses. Each house consists of six homerooms. These homerooms are made up of students from senior 1, 2 and 3. Each Homeroom has two Homeroom teachers, one Chinese and one International. Our Houses are named after famous Chinese Mountain Ranges.
Houses compete against each other in a range of sporting, academic, cultural and artistic competitions. There is strong sense of pride and energy in each House. The Homeroom and House system give students a chance to meet and make friends with many more students. It builds the community of the school and adds purpose to the day.
